Peer Review and Editorial Process

Initial assessment

The editorial office checks scope, completeness, originality indicators, research ethics, anonymisation and required disclosures. A submission may be declined at this stage. Passing this check does not guarantee external review or acceptance.

External review

Research articles, review articles and research notes use double-anonymous review by at least two independent subject experts. Teaching cases use one academic and one industry reviewer. Practice perspectives receive editorial assessment and at least one external review. Book reviews receive editorial review. Reviewers must disclose conflicts and decline where impartial review is not possible.

Decision

The handling editor evaluates the manuscript, reviewer reports and author response. Decisions may be decline, revise and resubmit, accept subject to revision, or accept. The Editor-in-Chief holds final editorial responsibility for JHTG. Fees and waiver status do not affect decisions.

Timelines and records

Invited reviewers are normally asked to respond within one week and complete a review within three weeks. These are working targets, not guarantees. The journal retains review and decision records in OJS. Special issues, if introduced, will use the same standards and remain under the Editor-in-Chief.
